DIABETES BOOKS
Think Like a Pancreas: A Practical Guide to Managing Diabetes with Insulin by Gary Scheiner
Tad’s Take: When I finished this book, I realized that I already knew about 80% of what was in it. So, you may be wondering why I recommend it so highly. Well, there are 2 reasons. One, it took me 20 years of trial and error to learn what was so beautifully and clearly articulated in Mr. Scheiner’s book. And two, the 20% that I didn’t know were things I should have known, and it helped me improve my diabetes self-management even more. If I had this book when I was diagnosed, I could have saved years of toil and trouble in learning to manage my diabetes. Even though the book is primarily for type 1 diabetics, I believe it is still a good read for a type 2 because it helps you understand what diabetes does on a biological level. That is key to helping all of us better understand our diabetes (for the record, I do not know Gary Scheiner and he has not paid me to endorse his book.)
